Connecticut's Favorite Jelly Bean May Surprise You

New data has been compiled to reveal America's favorite jelly bean by state, including Connecticut.

With Easter taking place this Sunday and National Jelly Bean Day not too far on the horizon (April 22), a recent study has compiled data to reveal America's favorite jelly bean by state.

Candystore.com recently published a list of the most popular jelly beans in the country to mark both upcoming occasions. A ranking for each state was also compiled as part of the study.

To research these rankings, Candystore.com looked at jelly bean sales data from the last nine years. The website also examined SurveyMonkey and Facebook polls of over 10,000 candy fans.

According to the data, Connecticut's favorite flavor jelly bean is buttered popcorn. The somewhat peculiar flavor manged to pull ahead of both runner up flavors: cherry and juicy pear respectively.

"The Constitution State is so rich in legal history that we’re surprised it hasn’t ratified its favorite jelly bean flavor into state law," Candystore.com said of the state's top pick. "Connecticutians love their buttered popcorn beans."

It seems Connecticut is not alone however, as buttered popcorn also ranks second in the country behind only black licorice.

The top 10 most popular flavors in the country are:

  1. Black licorice
  2. Buttered popcorn
  3. Watermelon
  4. Cherry
  5. Cinnamon
  6. Juicy Pear
  7. Orange
  8. Green apple
  9. Toasted marshmallow
  10. Blueberry

While celebrating Easter this weekend in Connecticut, be sure to set aside some time for a batch of bite-sized buttered goodness. According to the data, a majority of the state (and the country) will be joining you.
