Connecticut's Next Kid Governor Is a West Hartford Student
She will be inaugurated in January at Connecticut's Old State House in Hartford.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — Myra Stanfield of West Hartford, a fifth-grade student at the Eric G. Norfeldt Elementary School, has been elected as the 2020 Connecticut’s Kid Governor. She was elected by the fifth graders of Connecticut based on her platform of Preventing Animal Abuse.
Her platform focuses on three platform points to advocate for animals in Connecticut:
- Inform people about how animal abuse is a problem.
- Raise money and collect items for animals in need.
- Hold a statewide adoption event.

Myra’s term as Kid Governor will commence in January, beginning with her inauguration at Connecticut’s Old State House in Hartford. She will supplant the 2019 Kid Governor, Ella Briggs of East Hampton.
Connecticut’s Kid Governor is a national award-winning statewide civics program for fifth graders created by the Connecticut Democracy Center in 2015.
