Construction Project For I-84 To Resume In West Hartford

Officials say construction at the intersection may be "even more disruptive than last year's work…"

WEST HARTFORD, CT — Road work will resume on April 1, near the intersection of Park Road and Trout Brook Drive, as part of the I-84 (Park Road) construction project. Construction at the intersection may be “even more disruptive than last year’s work on Park Road,” officials said in a news release.

“Eastbound traffic on Park Road should have minimal impacts, but travel in other directions approaching the intersection will be restricted,” officials said. “The Town will be working closely with the contractor, Paramount Construction to minimize traffic impacts and signed detours will be in place. Motorists are strongly encouraged to avoid the area and seek alternate routes whenever possible.

“Work at the intersection of Park Road at Trout Brook Drive is expected to last three to four months. The majority of this work will be performed during the day. In the interest of public safety there will be one to two weeks of night work, which is expected to occur around the middle of April. Following some additional road work on Park Road between Thomson Road and Raymond Road, a final layer of pavement will be installed on Park Road between Trout Brook Drive and Thomson Road. This final paving work will occur around the end of the summer and will most likely be performed at night to ensure quality and minimize traffic disruptions.”
