Details And Timing On When To Expect Thunderstorms In West Hartford Today

Thunderstorms are in the forecast again for the area and here are the latest updates on when to expect them and how severe they may be.

For the third straight day, Connecticut is under a Hazardous Weather Outlook as there is a chance for severe thunderstorms, strong winds and heavy downpours on Thursday. Today’s weather threat actually offers the best chance for thunderstorms across the state.

In northern Connecticut, “there is the possibility for heavy rainfall in any thunderstorms

through this evening. Some localized urban and poor drainage flooding may result. Some thunderstorms may produce local strong wind gusts mainly this afternoon and evening. There is a low risk of localized wind damage,” the weather service states. (See below for details on when to expect the storms today).

And on Friday in northern Connecticut, “Heavy rainfall is possible in any thunderstorms Friday afternoon and evening, which may produce localized urban and poor drainage flooding.”

NBC Connecticut Meteorologist Ryan Hanrahan wrote, “Another day of severe storms today. Best chance for storms is after 2 p.m. We'll keep you covered all day!”

Today: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after noon. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 86. West wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Tonight: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 1am, then a chance of showers. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. Cloudy, with a low around 63. Northeast wind 3 to 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Friday: Showers likely, with thunderstorms also possible after 2pm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Patchy fog before 10am. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 72. Northeast wind 3 to 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Friday Night: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 10pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 10pm and 2am, then a chance of showers after 2am. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Patchy fog after 9pm. Otherwise, cloudy, with a low around 63. Light east wind. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Saturday: A slight chance of showers before 3pm. Areas of fog before 10am. Otherwise, partly sunny, with a high near 81. Light and variable wind becoming northwest 5 to 7 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 65.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 85.
