Fire Displaces 8 In West Hartford
A Thursday fire displaced several residents in West Hartford.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — A fire at a West Hartford housing complex on South Main Street Thursday displaced eight people, according to the American Red Cross.
In a social media post, local firefighters said the blaze broke out at about 5:30 p.m.
Imaged posted by firefighters showed smoke billowing from a top-floor unit in the red rick complex. A ladder truck was stretched into the courtyard and another ladder had been manually placed against the building in a tight courtyard, images show.

In all seven adults and one child were displaced, the Red Cross said.
The Red Cross is also providing "comfort kits" containing personal care items like toothbrushes, deodorant, shaving supplies and other items a resident might need when suddenly displaced from a home by a fire.

Those affected will connect with Red Cross caseworkers in the coming days to work on a longer-term recovery plan, officials said.
The fire is under investigation.
