There have been six snow days this year, which has pushed back the last day of school from the original date of June 17. Last year there were six weather-related closures as well, most resulting from the power outage by the freak October storm.
The Board of Education will vote Tuesday night on several calendar options for future academic years. The proposed calendar for 2014-2015, which received a first reading on Feb. 27, will have a second and final reading along with a vote.

The original proposal included a full week of February vacation, but an alternative option for a four-day weekend, which was proposed by Superintendent of Schools Dr. Karen List at the March 19 meeting, will also be considered. The Board of Education will consider the results of an online survey, which was conducted from March 20 through April 1, in its decision.
The Board will also consider a proposal amending the calendar for the 2013-2014 academic year. That calendar was originally approved last year with a full week of February vacation, but an option to reduce that to a four-day weekend, with vacation days on Feb. 17 and 18, will be discussed and put to a vote.
