Local Funeral Director Re-Elected to Statewide Board
Jesse Gomes is Executive Committee Member of Connecticut Funeral Directors Association

Jesse M. Gomes, MA, CFSP, CPC, CCO, Certified Celebrant, has been re-elected to serve his fourth one-year term on the Executive Committee of the Connecticut Funeral Directors Association.
Gomes is a licensed funeral director/embalmer with Molloy Funeral Home at 906 Farmington Ave. in West Hartford. He is recognized as a Certified Funeral Service Practitioner (CFSP) through the Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice. He is a CPC (Certified Planning Consultant) from the National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA), making him qualified to help families plan appropriate and customized services, manage funding options and ensure consumer protection for the families he serves. His CCO designation indicates that he completed the NFDA’s Certified Crematory Operator program. He also received Celebrant training and certification from the Insight Institute, to better meet the needs of families during their time of loss. Recently, Gomes expanded his interest in funeral service by being inducted as a Member of the British Institute of Embalmers, enabling him to explore the profession internationally.
In addition to his work at the funeral home, Gomes is the Program Director and Associate Professor of the Funeral Service Department at Goodwin University in East Hartford. He also is the Director of Operations at the Human Anatomy Laboratories and Director of the Anatomical Gift Program at the Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine at Quinnipiac University in North Haven, Conn. At the former Lincoln College of New England (now Goodwin University), he was an Associate Professor and Program Director of the Mortuary Science department.

A native of West Hartford, Gomes graduated from Conard High School and continued his education at Central Connecticut State University, where he earned both a Bachelor’s degree in Biomolecular Sciences and a Master’s degree in Cell and Molecular Biology and Physiology.
Gomes began working at Molloy Funeral Home as a Funeral Director’s Assistant in 2009 and received his degree in Mortuary Sciences from the former Lincoln College of New England four years later. He served his internship and his apprenticeship at Molloy Funeral Home and has been a licensed funeral director and embalmer since 2014.

Gomes lives in Avon with his wife, Elizabeth, and their daughter, and is a communicant at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in West Hartford.
