New Video Promotes Digital Offerings At West Hartford Library
The West Hartford Public Library is highlighting its digital services.

WEST HARTFORD,CT — The West Hartford Public Library is continuing its "Get Your Card, It's Free" campaign with a new video encouraging town residents to sign up for a library card and take advantage of an increasingly popular collection of digital resources.
Watch the new video below:
Through a series of videos, the "Get Your Card, It's Free" campaign highlights the wide variety of
free library resources cardholders have access to, which includes digital streaming platforms,
newspapers and magazines — and even online classes. The first video was released in February.

Though the videos were shot before the pandemic, the video is perhaps even more relevant now as
it pertains to the digital resources that cardholders can access from home: eBooks, eAudiobooks,
movies, and magazines.
Those who have a West Hartford Public Library card, can even take the Internet home with them.

"Folks get access to the Internet here, plus they can also borrow like they would a book, a hotspot,
so they can bring it back to their home and use it at their home," former West Hartford Public
Library Foundation President Chuck Coursey says in the video.
All three locations have palm-sized mobile wireless hotspots available to borrow for a week at a
time. It’s one of the many creative ways the library has made services available to the public during the pandemic. The library also recently started a new partnership with Kanopy, which allows cardholders access to a stream from a new digital library of high-quality movies.
"If you can't come into the buildings, we can take care of that," Interim Library Director Carol
Waxman said. "With your library card you have access to incredible books, magazines, and other
resources that are available on all your devices."
The videos were made possible with a grant from the Thomas F. Kilfoil Bequest, West Hartford
Public Library Foundation.
