New York Times Reviews Sweet Chilli in West Hartford

Park Road eatery receives a "Good" review.

Sweet Chilli Thai Cuisine in West Hartford received some well-deserved positive press recently from the New York Times.

The popular Thai eatery located at 312 Park Road received a “Good” review on Thursday from the paper, which reviews upscale and unique restaurants around Connecticut.

Ratings include poor, fair, good, very good and excellent. In August, Grants Restaurant and Bar in West Hartford Center received a “Very Good” review from the Times.

The reviewer noted that Sweet Chilli (extra ‘L’ to differentiate it from Tex-Mex fare), which opened in 2011, doesn’t do much in terms of innovations.

“What you will get are well-executed renditions of familiar favorites, fresh, colorful dishes that highlight Thai cuisine’s core combination of sour, salty, hot and sweet tastes,” the reviewer wrote.

Among the things the reviewer liked are the dim sum dumplings, “bags of gold,” which are crunchy deep-fried purses of dough with chicken, and yum nua, which is a hot beef salad, and glass-noodle salad.

The reviewer also recommended entrees such as pad kra prow and the seafood pad Thai.
