Northwest Catholic Welcomes New Boys Lacrosse Coach

Scott Kossbiel coached Avon High School boys lacrosse teams for past 14 years. Played long-stick midfield/close defense at U of Scranton.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — Northwest Catholic is delighted to welcome Scott Kossbiel of Avon to its coaching staff.

Coach Kossbiel has spent the last 14 years coaching Avon’s finest lacrosse players. During his tenure at Avon High School, Kossbiel coached players of all levels. He worked a two-year stint as Freshman Head Coach, one year as JV Head Coach, three years as Varsity Defensive Coordinator, and the last eight years as Avon High School’s Varsity Head Coach.

Coach Kossbiel helped lead the Avon High School team to eight CIAC state playoff appearances, four NCCC Conference Championships, and a state semi-final. He also received a Class M Coach of the Year nomination in 2013. In addition, Coach Kossbiel led lacrosse camps and clubs, serving in roles from instructor to director to owner.

A 2003 graduate of the University of Scranton with a Bachelor’s of Education, Kossbiel holds his Connecticut teaching certificate and currently works in sales. At Scranton Kossbiel played long-stick midfield and close defense. He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to his new role as Varsity Boys Lacrosse Coach at Northwest Catholic.

NWC Athletic Director Ashley Mara had this to say about Coach Kossbiel’s appointment: “Scott is a mission-driven coach who is dedicated, experienced, and committed to bringing our boys lacrosse team to the next level.” Mara continued, “I am thrilled that our team is going to have the opportunity to be developed by someone who wants to make a difference not only in the game but in the lives of our student-athletes.”
