Originally created as a spin-off to the Student Prince & The Fort Restaurant in Springfield, MA, The Wurst Haus brand originated as a popular food hall in 2017 at The Eastern State Exposition.
In 2020, the Yee Family, along with restaurant partner Peter Picknelly, who is also the chief executive of Peter Pan Bus Lines, thought The Wurst Haus was a brand that could travel well, and opened the first brick-and-mortar location in Northampton, MA.

Wurst Haus West Hartford will be similar in concept to Wurst Haus Northampton, featuring similar decor (like Elk Antler Chandeliers and Bar Hall Seating), and will showcase some of the signature dishes served in Northampton as well as at The Student Prince.
That means dishes like the classic Fried Cheese, Roquefort Dressing, Cucumber Salad, Potato Pancakes, and Schnitzels in addition to bratwursts, giant pretzels and boots of beer in signature mugs.
"We are excited to bring The Wurst Haus to West Hartford where we will be offering award-winning cuisine paired with a wide selection of fine European beers, that will only be available here," said Yee, the co-owner of Bean Restaurant Group. "We want to build community and know the restaurant will offer a fun, relaxed atmosphere where people can come together to dine and raise a boot of beer."
The Bean Restaurant Group owns several other restaurants in Massachusetts and Connecticut including The Student Prince, Johnny's Bar & Grill, Johnny's Tap Room, The Halfway House Lounge, the Boathouse and IYa Sushi & Noodle Kitchen in South Hadley, Johnny’s Tavern and IYa Sushi Bar & Noodle Kitchen in Amherst' Johnny's Roadside Diner in Hadley; The White Hut in West Springfield, The Wurst Haus in North Hampton, and Union Kitchen in West Hartford, CT.
