Parents Ask Questions!
Don't worry about your kid acting like you're bothering him when you ask him questions. Ask away! And throw in a thought-provoking one, too.
Parents, I am going to encourage you to do something that all of our teenagers find annoying. Ask them questions. I know this could be tricky because the last thing our teens want us doing is continuously asking them questions, right? Well, I say go ahead parents and do it anyway. Ask away.
You see, there are many ways to ask questions. Some of the methods may come off as prying or annoying, and some of the techniques may not seem annoying at all. Believe it or not, some of our parental questions might even come off as thought-provoking. Yes. You heard me correctly. We parents really can ask thought-provoking questions. And that is a good thing!
So, here’s the deal, if some of your questions do happen to come off as being perceived as annoying to your teens, don’t sweat it. Believe it or not, our teens seeming annoyed can still be a good sign because it shows they know we haven’t lost interest in them yet. Trust me. They like the prying questions, I mean attention, over the alternative, even if they pretend not to in their own “cool teen way.”

Now the other side of the question coin presents us with a handy tool if we choose to use it wisely. Believe it or not, instead of telling our kids what to do or lecturing them, which they always seem to find annoying, we can actually ask them a thought-provoking question as I mentioned above.
Thought-provoking questions won’t always work their magic, but if we put some real thought into creating them, then we will at least occasionally find ourselves lecturing to our kids a little less and surprisingly getting them to think a little more. And that too is a good thing! Wouldn’t you agree?

Now, as my Granddaddy always said, “Go learn, lead, and lay the way to a better world for all of us.” Don’t be afraid to ask your kids questions. It’s good for them. And once again parents, thanks in advance for all that you do, and all that you will do…
