Popular West Hartford Eatery Soon to Close
The restaurant in Blue Back Square will be closing in mid-July, according to its owners.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — A popular restaurant in West Hartford will soon be closing, just two years after opening in Blue Back Square.
The Cook and the Bear, located at 50 Memorial Road, was a partnership between Tyler Anderson of Millwright's and Bear's Smokehouse co-owner Jamie McDonald. It came to fruition in July 2017, when the two decided "to merge their styles and develop a casual menu of barbecue-inspired dishes with an atmosphere of rustic but chic charm," according to a news release issued Tuesday.
A Facebook post from the restaurant indicated the final day of operation will be Sunday, July 14.

In a joint statement, Anderson and McDonald said, "Strategically, it was determined that both an expansion and additional investment would be necessary to continue further growth."
"We are proud of the quality and brand that attracted the West Hartford community into a growing regular base of guests and appreciate the dedicated support of our suppliers and vendors, and loyalty from our service team for their care of our guests," Anderson said.
