WEST HARTFORD, CT — The intersection of North Main Street at Fern Street is scheduled to be resurfaced beginning on Tuesday, May 14 at 7 a.m. (weather permitting), according to officials. The intersection will be closed to traffic to accommodate the pavement milling work, and signed detours will be in place. Traffic delays are expected, officials said.

“Motorists are advised to avoid the intersection and utilize Trout Brook Drive as an alternate north-south route,” officials wrote in a news release. “Construction work at the intersection is expected to be completed by midday, at which point North Main Street will be re-opened to traffic. Fern Street will remain closed between North Main Street and Trout Brook Drive for the entire day. Motorists should use either Farmington Avenue or Asylum Avenue as an east-west alternative.”

The re-paving of Fern Street between North Main Street and Trout Brook Drive (including the intersection of North Main Street) is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, May 21 and Wednesday, May 22 (weather permitting). The same road closures and signed detour routes will be in place again to accommodate the paving work.
