Use Of Force Being Investigated After West Hartford Police Chase
The use of force is being investigated after a man jumped over a barrier on Interstate-84 during a police pursuit.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — State police Thursday said they are investigating a possible use of force incident after a man jumped over a barrier on Interstate-84 during a chase that originated in West Hartford.
The pursuit began at about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, when officers in West Hartford came across a vehicle wanted in an ongoing criminal investigation, according to a state police report.
The vehicle proceeded through a set of stop sticks, traveled through West Hartford and proceeded onto the eastbound side of Interstate-84, where it came to a stop on the Exit 46 ramp in Hartford, according to a state police report.

Two people fled the vehicle and 33-year-old Maia Marieliz was immediately taken into custody on an outstanding robbery warrant, according to a. state police report.
A man who was with her continued to flee and jumped over a concrete barrier, state police said. He wound up falling 70 feet to an area below the highway, according to a state police report.

The man, who has yet to be identified and also was wanted in a robbery case, was transported to an area hospital with undisclosed injuries, according to a sate police report.
State police then began investigating the case as a possible use of force incident, the report indicates.
