USJ to Celebrate the Life of Martin Luther King, Jr. February 1
Connecticut State Treasurer Shawn T. Wooden & DASNY President & CEO Reuben R. McDaniel III to Lead Discussion
(January 15, 2021 – West Hartford) - The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) will celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on February 1, 2021, from 12-1 p.m. with “His Dream Had a Plan: Martin Luther King’s Economic Policies,” a virtual program commemorating the King Day holiday.
This year’s program will explore King’s lesser-known economic justice movement, The Poor People’s Campaign. The University is honored to welcome Connecticut State Treasurer Shawn Wooden as the keynote speaker and Reuben McDaniel, President and CEO of the Dormitory Authority of the State of NY (DASNY) who will join Treasurer Wooden, USJ President Rhona Free, and USJ Director of Diversity and Inclusion Rayna Dyton-White in discussion.
“This year our annual celebration of the life of Dr. King highlights his plan to implement structural economic changes that provide people from all backgrounds with more opportunities to succeed,” said USJ President Rhona Free. “We welcome the community to join us and learn more, so that his plans will continue moving forward.”
