West Hartford Athletes on Campus: Corrales Leads UNE Women's Hockey in Scoring
A weekly roundup of the best from former West Hartford scholastic athletes who are now playing in college.

Emily Corrales (Conard High ‘13), a first-year on the University of New England women’s ice hockey team, is tied for the team lead in points with 10 (six goals, four assists). She scored a goal and had two assists in a 5-1 victory over Plymouth State on Dec. 5. The following evening, Corrales scored a goal in a 2-0 victory over Plymouth State. The Nor’easters are 5-4-3 on the year. … Last week we reported that Eliza Maciag (Hall '13), a first-year on the Trinity College women’s swimming and diving team, set a Bantams freshman record in the 100-yard back at a Nov. 24 meet. On Dec. 7, Maciag set another Trinity freshman record - this time in the 200-yard back (2:14.59) - at a tri-meet against Hamilton and Connecticut College. She placed second in both the 100- and 200-yard backstroke swims to help lead the Bantams to their first victory of the season, a 186-142, over Hamilton. … West Hartford resident Colin Bradley’s (Avon Old Farms ‘09) University of Connecticut men’s soccer team lost to Virginia 2-1 in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division I tournament. Bradley, a senior midfielder, started all 23 games for the 12-3-8 Huskies. ... Sara Binkhorst’s (Hall High ‘11) Bowdoin College women’s basketball team is off to a 9-0 start. Binkhorst, a junior guard, is third on the team in scoring with a 10.3 ppg average. She scored 15 points in a 70-65 victory over Farmington (Me.) on Dec. 11. She also had 13 points and eight assists in an 83-69 victory over Colby on Dec. 7. … Haley Sinatro (Hall High ‘12), a sophomore on the Penn State women’s swimming and diving team, was part of the 800-yard free relay that placed 7th overall at the University of Texas Invitational on Dec. 5 - 7. She placed 16th in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:03.24, 18th out of 35 swimmers in the 100-yard breast stroke, 37th out of 80 competitors in the 50-yard free and 31st out of 77 in the 100-yard free. Sinatro took part on the Penn State 400-medley relay B team that placed ninth and the 200-medley relay that placed 10th.
