1 Adult Injured, 2 Dogs Killed, In Easton House Fire

Easton firefighters tackled a residential blaze on Sunday night which resulted in the death of two family pets.

EASTON. CT — Firefighters tackled a residential blaze on Sunday night which resulted in the death of two family pets.

The Easton Volunteer Fire Department received the call reporting smoke at a home on Northwood Drive at around 8:12 p.m. First responders found visible flames coming from the side of the building, and learned that a resident was in the house looking for a family pet.

The EVFD was able to rescue the resident, but two dogs were pronounced dead at the scene by a local veterinarian, according to a new release from the Easton Police Department. One woman was taken to the hospital suffering from smoke inhalation.

The fire was brought under control at approximately 8:50 p.m. by crews from the EFD, assisted by firefighters from Long Hill, Stepney, Monroe, Weston, Fairfield, Botsford and Redding Ridge.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Easton Fire Marshal's Office.
