15-Year-Old Redding Boy Crashes into Utility Pole

A 15-year-old Redding male is being sent to juvenile court after he allegedly took his parents’ vehicle for a joyride early Sunday morning and crashed into a utility pole.
According to police, officers responded to a motor vehicle accident on Deacon Abbott Road at 3:14 a.m. on March 24. Upon arrival, they saw a car had smashed into a utility pole causing it to snap in half, which caused power lines to come down and the road to be blocked.
No injuries were reported, but the vehicle suffered significant front-end damage, police said.

A 22-year-old Redding woman was given a written warning for failure to drive in the proper lane following a motor vehicle accident on Limekiln Road where she fell asleep at the wheel and crashed into a tree.

According to police, Emily Jessep’s car caught on fire after the accident, which occurred at 3:22 a.m. on March 25. She wasn’t injured, but her 2013 Subaru Impreza was totaled.

A 45-year-old garbage truck driver crashed into a house on Packer Brook Road on March 19. Police said there was “significant damage to the house.” John Fisher, of Bethel, was driving for Winter Brothers Hauling. No enforcement action was taken because the accident occurred on private property.
