Asleep At The Wheel, And More From The Redding Police Blotter
Two motor vehicle accidents and a DUI were at the top of the Redding police blotter this week.
REDDING, CT — A couple of motor vehicle accidents, and a third caught in the nick of time, were at the top of the Redding Police Department blotter this past week.
On Friday, police were called to the aftermath of a meet-up between a motor vehicle and a mailbox. The driver in the crash said they were traveling southbound on Longridge Road and was turning when they noticed another vehicle coming in the opposite direction whose vehicle "was partially over the centerline." The first driver swerved to the right in order to avoid the other, then struck a mailbox belonging at 47 Longridge Road suffered minor damage to the passenger's side door and mirror, according to police. The motorist received a warning for failing to keep right on a curve. No injuries were reported.
The next day, police were called to the scene of a two vehicle accident, on Seventy Acre Road. The collision is still under investigation, but no injuries were reported.

Police charged Edgar Cochancela-Orellana, 38, of Durant Street in Danbury with driving under the influence after they found him asleep at the wheel of his vehicle, running on Route 53.
Police held Cochancela-Orellana on a $50 bond before releasing him to his girlfriend. He is scheduled to appear before Danbury Superior Court on June 24.

The Redding Police Department has also reported that the two vehicles stolen from driveways along Bayberry Lane and Olmstead Road on May 26, were found last week in two separate locations by the Waterbury Police Department. The vehicles were processed for prints and DNA by Redding police and then returned to their owners
