BLM Sign Vandalized, Car Crashes, On Redding Police Blotter

Two incidents of criminal mischief were at the top of the Redding police blotter this week.

REDDING, CT —Two incidents of criminal mischief were at the top of the Redding police blotter this week.

On June 21, a Lamp Post Drive resident filed a complaint with the police that someone had painted red, white and blue on a Black Lives Matter sign posted on his property. The criminal mischief incident remains open.

Police say that more criminal mischief was reported the same day on Church Hill Road. A resident there complained that someone damaged his mailbox, sometime overnight.

Also on the 21st, a North Haven resident turned himself in to the police after being advised by Danbury Superior Court there was an active warrant for his arrest out of Redding. Police charged Martin A. Boland with driving with a suspended license and failure to appear in court. Boland was released on a $1,500 bond and is scheduled back in Danbury Superior Court on July 1.

Police were called to assist at three motor vehicle accidents on June 22. On Route 58, there was a 2-vehicle crash that resulted in damage to a utility pole, but none to either of the drivers. On Route 7, a vehicle hit a parked truck, and another vehicle hit a guard rail on Route 107. No one was injured in any of the accidents.

On June 23, one motorist rear-ended another on Route 107 at the traffic light intersection with Route 57 /Portland Avenue. No injuries were reported. Police issued a warning to one of the drivers for following too closely.

Police issued a warning for failure to grant right of way at a stop sign to a motorist they say pulled out of Hopewell Woods Road to go northbound on Route 58, and into the path of another driver moving northbound on the same road. Both drivers received minor injuries and were taken to Danbury Hospital by Redding EMS for treatment.
