Chief Troxell to Talk School Safety on April 10

The Weston Police Chief will talk at the Democratic Town Committee's meeting.

With the Newtown shootings fresh on the minds of residents, the Weston Democratic Town Committee will sponsor a major address by Chief of Police John Troxell on Wednesday, April 10, at 8 p.m. in the meeting room at town hall.

"The State of Security and Public Safety in Town and on the School Campus," the title of Troxell’s presentation, will focus on public awareness of what the town needs to do to enhance safety "post-Sandy Hook."

“School campus security regarding the ‘Mile of Safety’ officer in conjunction with a school resource officer in concert with additional school security staff is what I am particularly focused on discussing,” Troxell said.

Police staffing and training as well as equipment willbe three areas that the chief will address.

“I want to provide real information in order that residents can make informed decisions about present and future police department operations and budgets,” Troxell added.

“Bring your questions to the meeting,” advised Beth Gralnick, vice chairman of the Police Commission. “Chief Troxell is looking forward to an exchange of ideas on this serious topic.”
