CT Tax Free Week 2014 Starts Aug 17
Parents and students, mark your calendars and get ready for some back-to-school shopping.

Connecticut’s annual ‘tax free’ shopping week begins Sunday, August 17, and ends Saturday, August 23.
During that week, the sales or purchases of clothing or footwear costing less than $300 per item are not subject to state sales and use taxes.

Clothing & Footwear Exempt When Sold for Less Than $300
Athletic socks
Baseball hats
Belts, suspenders, belt buckles
Bicycle sneakers (without cleats)
Clerical vestments and religious clothing
Diapers (cloth or disposable, adult or child)
Dresses
Gloves
Hats, caps
Hiking boots
Jeans
Rain jackets
Rented uniforms
Robes
Scarves
Shirts
Shoes: aerobic, basketball, boat, running (without cleats), safety (suitable for everyday wear)
Shoelaces
Sleepwear (nightgowns, pajamas)
Sneakers
Socks
Square dancing clothes
Swimsuits
Taxable Clothing or Footwear, Even if Sold for Less Than $300

Wigs (custom-made wigs or hairpieces for persons with medically diagnosed total and permanent hair loss as a result of disease disease or the treatment of disease are fully exempt under Conn. Gen. Stat. §12-412(19).
* These articles of clothing or footwear may qualify for exemption as safety apparel, regardless of their cost.
