Easton Police ID Suspect In School Swastika Graffiti Case

Police have identified a person they say is responsible for drawing several swastikas behind an elementary school in Easton

EASTON, CT – Police have identified a person they say is responsible for drawing several swastikas in chalk on the asphalt in the rear of Samuel Staples Elementary School.

School officials discovered the graffiti on Thursday, and the school resource officer and school staff conducted an investigation. On Friday, police identified a suspect.

The Easton Police Department filed a Hate and Bias Form with the State of Connecticut.

The school district is now overseeing the follow-up investigation, police officials said.

"It is important that everyone understands that this symbol is a despicable reminder of hate, bias and has no place in our community, which prides itself on being a welcoming, inclusive, and kind community," Chief Richard Doyle said in a statement.
