Georgetown Fire Department Seeking Donations For Sandy

The donations will go to the Breezy Point Fire Department.

Looking for a way to help victims of the harshest brunt of Hurricane Sandy?

Through Tuesday, the Georgetown Volunteer Fire Department is accepting donations of various items that will be given to those hurt most by last week's tragic storm. 

"People have no food—they're walking the street looking for food," said Firefighter Sandra Hall.

According to the department's website, they're looking to collect the following items:

  • Clothing, shoes, pillows, bedding, blankets, towels
  • Non-perishable food
  • Toiletries (toothpaste, tooth brushes, toilet paper, paper towels)
  • Bottled water
  • Batteries, flash lights, brooms
  • Pet food
  • Diapers, dry formula, baby wipes
  • Hearing aid batteries

Those interested in helping should drop items off at the fire department, located on Portland Avenue in Georgetown, from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. through Tuesday, Nov. 13.
