Hospital Transport Merely Delays a DUI Arrest

A search warrant for a Bethel woman's medical records led to a DUI arrest on Aug. 4, stemming from a one-car accident at 1:25 a.m. on May 4 in which police say she lost control of her vehicle heading north on Route 107 in Redding and struck a tree.

The driver, Christina Giglio, 23, was also charged with two counts of third-degree assault because two passengers in her vehicle were injured, police said. She was released on $100 bond for an Aug. 23 court date.

When the accident occurred, police said Giglio was injured and had to be transported to the hospital, so police were unable to have her perform field sobriety tests, according to Redding Police Chief Douglas Fuchs.

Police the obtained a search warrant for Giglio's medical records which showed a blood alcohol level above the legal limit, police said.
