REDDING, CT — An investigation by the Region 9 School District has resulted in a former Joel Barlow High School teacher, coach and athletic director being stripped of all her honors.

Former A.D. Pamela Goodpaster "engaged in inappropriate conduct with a student in the 1970s," according to School Superintendent Rydell Harrison.

Harrison informed the Region 9 Board of Education of the results of the investigation during a regularly-scheduled meeting of the BoE Tuesday night.

"Based on this determination, Region 9 is removing honoraria related to Ms. Goodpaster," Rydell said.

The information regarding Goodpaster's conduct had been reported to "all the appropriate authorities," but the superintendent said he expected no further action to emerge out of the revelation,"given the passage of time."

No additional details would be forthcoming, Rydell said, "in order to respect the privacy of all involved."

The superintendent made his remarks prior to providing the board an update on the school's end of year activities and award season. In previous years, the "Pamela Goodpaster Service Award" provided a scholarship to a graduating senior who "exemplifies qualities such as service to the community, leadership, teamwork, and a desire to be a lifelong learner" according to the school website.
