Joel Barlow Cruises Into State Football Finals

The opponents for next Saturday's four state championship games were determined in semifinal matchups Sunday.

REDDING, CT — Joel Barlow High School earned an opportunity to go for its first-ever state football championship by trouncing seventh-seeded SMSA/University/Classical 53-14 in a Class M semifinal matchup Sunday afternoon.

Head coach Rob Tynan's troops, seeded No. 6, will play top-seeded Killingly for the title on Saturday, Dec. 9, at a location and time to be determined. The Redmen crushed No. 4 Berlin, 49-7.

In contrast to the Falcons, who will be making their first championship game appearance, Killingly has won two titles in three tries, last winning in 1996.
