Obituary: Irma Jean Depweg, 98, Of Easton

Irma will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who delighted in time spent with her family.

EASTON, CT — Irma Jean Depweg, affectionately known as Mama D, age 98, of Easton, beloved wife of the late Frank A. Depweg, passed away peacefully Monday, June 14, 2021.

Born in Hamilton, OH, the daughter of the late Carl and Erma Holbrock, she had been an area resident for many years. Mrs. Depweg was a retired school teacher. She was an active participant in the Fairfield Bridge Marathon and the Fairfield Newcomers. She loved the mountains, especially those in the White Mountains of New Hampshire.

Irma loved to cook and entertain her family and large circle of friends where she expressed her love of people through her cooking. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who delighted in time spent with her family.

Predeceased by her son, Danny, she is survived by three beloved children, Tawny McClellan of Overland Park, KS, Kay Collins and her husband Jack of Black Rock and Jody Porter and her husband Kevin of Easton; a daughter-in-law, Carrie Depweg of Georgia; 11 loving grandchildren and 16 cherished great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Jewish Senior Services, 4200 Park Avenue, Bridgeport, CT 06604.
