Redding Police Investigating 2 Cases of Fraud
Redding Police are investigating two complaints from residents of attempts to defraud them over the phone. One attempt was successful.
REDDING, CT — Police are investigating two complaints from residents of attempts to defraud them over the phone. One attempt was successful.
On Saturday, a Sport Hill Road resident reported being scammed of $2,500 by someone who claimed to be a representative of TD Bank.
A resident of the Meadow Ridge nursing homes community complained to police on Sunday that they she received a phone call from someone claiming that a vehicle registered to the resident had been impounded. The caller told the resident to send gift cards to a location in Texas, in order to get the vehicle back, according to police. The resident said she purchased three gift cards, bt then thought better of sending them to the stranger and contacted the police.

Both cases remain open, according to Redding Police Chief Mark O'Donnell.
