Redding Retirement Community Has New Partial Owner
Meadow Ridge continuing care retirement community in Redding has a new partial owner, Massachusetts-based Benchmark Senior Living.
REDDING, CT — The Meadow Ridge continuing care retirement community in Redding has a new partial owner.
Massachusetts-based Benchmark Senior Living announced its minority stake in the business Tuesday. Affiliates of Senior Care Development, LLC, the community's original developers, will retain majority ownership.
Meadow Ridge, set on 136 acres, is Connecticut’s largest retirement community offering independent living, assisted living, nursing and rehabilitation on one campus. It opened in 2001 and features 415 apartment homes and employs more than 300 workers.

Benchmark owns and operates 63 independent living, assisted living, memory care and continuing care retirement communities throughout the Northeast, including two new communities in Fairfield County: Sturges Ridge of Fairfield and Benchmark Senior Living at Split Rock in Shelton. Benchmark also operates Edgehill, the second largest continuing care retirement community in Connecticut, located in Stamford.

Chris Barstein, a longtime Benchmark executive director, has been overseeing Meadow Ridge’s operations since December after serving seven years as the director of Edgehill.
The Meadow Ridge campus currently consists of 285 independent living apartments, 20 assisted living apartments and 62 skilled nursing units.
