Scams And Hit-And-Run On Redding Police Blotter

Reports of a two-car collision, and a truck-house crash, were at the top of the Redding Police Department's blotter for the week.

REDDING, CT — Reports of a two-car collision, and a truck-house crash, were at the top of the Redding Police Department's blotter for the week.

Both drivers in a two-car collision Monday night are still hospitalized with critical injuries, but in stable condition. The accident occurred at 9:16 p.m. on Route 107/Lonetown Road, and shut down Route 107 near Mohawk Trail for a period of time.

Two accidents occurred on Mar. 30, but no injuries were reported. Police say a vehicle was northbound on Poverty Hollow Road near Meeker Hill Road when it was struck by another vehicle. The second vehicle sped off.

The same day, a vehicle traveling southbound on Umpawaug Road swerved to the right to avoid a vehicle that had pulled out into the lane, police report. The first vehicle then struck a utility pole in the southbound shoulder of the road.

Both accidents are under investigation.

Police are also investigating the report of a scam attempted on Mar. 31. A resident on Seventy Acre Road told police someone tried to pass a fraudulent check to her for payment on an item she had listed on Craig's List.

On Saturday, a resident of Wayside Lane called police to say that an Amazon delivery driver backed into his house, causing damage. No injuries were reported, and the police are continuing to investigate.
