Should CT Children Get The Coronavirus Vaccine? Take The Survey
Children as young as 12-years-old are now eligible to receive the coronavirus vaccine. Patch wants to know how you feel about it.
CONNECTICUT — The state approved the latest age tier for coronavirus vaccination on Thursday.
Following federal emergency authorization earlier this week, the two-dose Pfizer vaccine is now available for use by children aged 12-15, and Connecticut is pulling out all the stops to get jabs into the arms of its 'tweens and youngest teens.
On Wednesday, the American Academy of Pediatrics endorsed the Pfizer vaccine for the children 12-and-up, and even gave its blessing to give more than one vaccine at the same time, especially for kids who are behind on their regular vaccinations. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and its Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices also made its formal recommendation of the vaccine for this age group Wednesday afternoon.

In municipalities across the state, coronavirus vaccination for those as young as 12 is rolling out at full steam.
Of course, not everyone is on board. Nationwide, according to family advocacy group ParentsTogether, just over 20 percent of Native American and Indigenous parents, 15 percent of white parents, 13 percent of Hispanic parents and less than 10 percent of Asian American and Pacific Islander parents said they would not vaccinate their children. Among Black parents, 26 percent surveyed said they would not vaccinate their children, the most of any racial demographic.

Patch wants to get a handle on the Connecticut demographics. Have you been vaccinated, but don't feel the need for your child? Maybe you have your reasons for skipping the vaccine, but believe it makes sense for your son or daughter. Or maybe you have absolutely no interest in getting the vaccine for yourself or your child, and you just wished people would stop asking you about it.
