State Legislators Meet With Voters in Weston

State Rep. John Shaban and State Sen. Toni Boucher on their recent town hall meeting in Weston.

State Rep. John Shaban (R-135) and State Sen. Toni Boucher (R-26) hosted a town hall meeting in Weston last week to discuss the issues that shaped the 2014 legislative session at the State Capitol.

“I really appreciate folks taking time out of their summer to join us and talk about the issues facing Connecticut,” Rep. Shaban said. “Residents were loud and clear that they think our state is headed in the wrong direction — the cost of living and doing business here is unreasonably high, and with a multi-billion-dollar budget deficit projected for the next biennium, the costs will only continue to go up. Thank you to all the attendees who participated and gave feedback.”

“We discussed the need for the state to get its fiscal house in order, the need to improve our transportation infrastructure and the need to improve Connecticut’s business climate,” Sen. Boucher said. “The wide ranging discussion also included such topics as the Minimum Budget Requirement, state inheritance taxes, and how to make Vo-Tech schools a more attractive option for high school students. Weston taxpayers asked excellent questions and we were pleased to host this open forum.”

Anyone unable to attend who would like to discuss state issues may contact Rep. Shaban’s office at 800-842-1423 or Sen. Boucher’s office at 800-842-1421.

The next Legislative Session will start in January.
