State Rep. Anne Hughes Recognizes Ovarian Cancer Survivor
Legislator Supports Easton Resident Noreen Forde During Fundraiser for The Clearity Foundation

Noreen Forde, an Easton resident who will be celebrating her one-year anniversary as an ovarian cancer survivor in January, was honored by State Rep. Anne Hughes and Mrs. Claus during a fundraiser at The Castle on Post Restaurant & Pub in Fairfield on December 5, 2020 in Fairfield. Forde was being recognized for raising over $15,000 to help other ovarian cancer patients, survivors and caregivers. State Rep. Anne Hughes of Easton attended the ceremony and wore a special teal scarf in support of Forde and ovarian cancer treatment, prevention and research.
Forde organized a Holiday Poinsettias Plant Sale as a way of giving back to The Clearity Foundation, an organization that helped her through some difficult days. She wants to help other women with ovarian cancer have access to these exceptional programs. Noreen teamed up with Vaiuso Farms of Branford to get premium plants. Patrick Clyne, owner of The Castle on Post Restaurant & Pub, allowed the tent in his parking lot to be used for the plant sale pick up. Back in May, Forde held a similar plant sale for Mother's Day.
The Clearity Foundation was founded by biotech industry veteran Dr. Laura Shawver, herself an ovarian cancer survivor, to revolutionize ovarian cancer treatment. Since inception, the nonprofit organization has provided hundreds of phone counseling consultations and molecular profiles to patients battling ovarian cancer. Grounded in science, The Clearity Foundation’s research database of over 550 patients has been described as the largest of its kind and is a rich source of information that can be used to improve patient care in the future.
