Utility and Light Poles

Dear Neighbor,
Did you know that Connecticut is rushing to install thousands of small cell antennas in our neighborhoods? These antennas emit the same power as a large macro cell tower.

Why should you care?

The environmental and health hazards will affect all pollinating insects, animals and humans. Serious illness will result, either immediately or long term. Your property value will be reduced by around 20% according to the Realtor Association people who are educated and informed do not want to buy homes near this equipment - who wants to buy near a cell tower when they are considering a new home?

What can you do?
By law, the telecommunications and/or the site developer must notify adjacent property owners of their plans to install telecommunications facilities. When you get a notification from a company that wants to install an antenna or tower on or near your property, the first step is to read the package. There should be a documented process in that package to express your disapproval by email or telephone.

1. The most important first step is to email the contact listed in the package and keep a copy for your records with a simple message - I object and do NOT consent to this application. This will halt things for a while and schedule a public hearing.

2. Contact the Connecticut agency listed with your disapproval, such as PURA, CT Siting Council, or the 5G Council. Keep track of further communications and hearing dates. Otherwise, if you do not show up at the hearing, they will assume you changed your mind and are in agreement and drop your dispute.

3. Get everyone in your community involved. Go door to door, post info at the coffee shops, library, post office or other public bulletin boards or social media. It will not only harm YOU but this beaming technology will require more and more antennas of similar capacity so they too will be suffering and harmed. Cluster of cancers and other neurological adverse effects have been reported throughout the country so this problem is not unique to Connecticut. Our children, pets and elderly are the most vulnerable but everyone who has living cells will be negatively impacted.

4. If they are targeting our utility and light poles, industry is targeting our schools with expansion of 5g and Wifi/wireless. Have you asked your school to be inspected by an RF (Radio Frequency) engineer to measure the radiation in and outside the school? Many schools have towers or have had small cell antennas installed and you – as parents or caregivers – do not even know the hazardous emissions stemming from these deployments. Also, if children are remote distance
learning, take steps to eliminate or reduce the home WiFi by learning to direct connect to the Internet (by wire). NOW more than ever, learning to be safe involves learning about WiFi alternative options. Yes, iPads, Chrome tablets, laptops or desktops can be directly connected to the Internet without WiFi. Lastly, you have a right to say no and your town has a duty to protect the people and property. Your health and property value will be damaged unless you take action. Contact your mayor, selectmen, or aldermen, Senator and State Representative and let them know you object to being irradiated with pulse-modulated microwave radiation.
