Wave Of Vehicle Thefts In Weston: Police
Police are reporting a wave of vehicle thefts in Weston.
WESTON, CT — Police are warning residents to lock up their cars following a wave of thefts in the past week.
The Weston Police Department has reported that two vehicles were stolen in the early hours from the same driveway in town last week. The thefts follow an earlier wave during which four vehicles were stolen from the same area.

- Lock vehicles and homes during overnight hours.
- Remove valet key from the owner manual if one is supplied with the vehicle.
- Remove garage door openers from inside the vehicle or put in a place other than the visor.
- Avoid leaving valuables in their vehicles.
"With 287 roads in town to patrol we greatly appreciate help from citizens, since the entire theft is typically over in less than 40 seconds. Hundreds of vehicles have been stolen in Fairfield County and the individuals typically sprint up and down driveways to the vehicles, and if it is unlocked they drive away," police posted on social media.
Vehicle thefts and burglaries are on the rise in the area. Police have reported 15 theft from vehicle incidents this year to date in Wilton, compared to eight at the same time last year.

The Weston police are urging residents to call them at 203-222-2600 with any information relating to the theft of motor vehicles.
