Weston Man Charged with DUI in Westport
The driver was travelling at 60 miles per hour in a 30 mile-per-hour zone when he passed an officer on routine patrol at about 1 a.m. Monday, police said.

Westport police initially followed the vehicle while it was travelling north on Saugatuck Avenue because it had no headlights or taillights illuminated, according to a police report.
While following the car, the officer paced the vehicle and observed it to be travelling in excess of 60 miles per hour in a clearly posted 30 mile-per-hour zone, police said. The driver then ran a red light at the intersection of Riverside Avenue and Post Road West.
“When stopped, the officer immediately detected a distinct and pronounced odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from him,” the arrest report states.
