National Guard Expected In Weston To Assist With Cleanup

The first priority for the crews will be clearing roadways for safe passage and emergency vehicle access.

WESTON, CT — The Connecticut National Guard is expected to arrive Friday to assist with road clearance operations, the Office of Emergency Management has announced.

Eversource is estimating that power throughout the state will be restored by 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, according to the OEM, who "are hopeful that many will start to get their power back sooner than that." Residents who do get their power back early should expect service that may be "somewhat intermittent" until full restoration is completed, as Eversource will be "de-energizing the town at various times to work safely," according to the OEM.

The first priority for the crews will be clearing roadways for safe passage and emergency vehicle access. Repair crews will also begin restoration activities to areas they can access and work safely. Motorists are cautioned to be on the lookout for many emergency workers in the road.
