Exciting New Course For Aspiring Writers To Be Offered

Local Author Presents an Eight Week Class For Aspiring Writers

It began as a presentation, then it became a book, and now, it’s an eight week course being offered Spring of 2019 in the Windsor Locks Adult and Continuing Education Catalog.
In this course, multi-genre, independent and traditionally published author and speaker Elsa Kurt takes new and aspiring writer’s through the writing, publishing, self-promoting, and even the book signing event processes in this enlightening, inspiring, and motivating course. It will run from March 18th through May 20th, on Monday nights from 7-8:30 pm at Windsor Locks High School.
Elsa began writing professionally six years ago and has since written eight novels, three novellas, several children's books, and two non-fiction works. In addition, Elsa has made countless book signing appearances, as well as radio, YouTube, and podcast appearances. A member of the Connecticut Authors and Publishers Association and The Association of Publishers for Special Sales, and guest author at The Storyteller's Cottage, Elsa stays current and involved in the local writing scene. She's been featured in Courant Community and has been on the cover of Wethersfield Life. While she feels she has a very long way to go and still much to learn, she knows the knowledge she's gathered up to this point is invaluable to someone just starting out.
In her course, Elsa will help aspiring authors create a writing routine to increase their productivity, teach writing techniques to make writing 'pop off the pages,' explore whether independent or traditional publishing is best for the individual's work, help students understand the many aspects of publishing, the DO’s and DON’T’s and what to look out for. In addition, she'll show writers how to create and build a platform on social media, navigate the ins and outs of book signings, trade events, and book launches, plus so much more.
Each hour and thirty minute class is filled with information and tools to get writers on their way to publishing and promoting their work. Elsa's sincere and straightforward approach and willingness to share all she's learned, the resources she uses, plus her personal insights and trials and errors combine with a genuine excitement and enthusiasm for her students' success.
Elsa says, "I’ve been where you are, so, I know how daunting the journey to authorship may seem. I believe that by the end of our eight weeks together, you will have a clearer vision of your goals & feel prepared to take your next steps. While I can’t promise you success, I CAN promise that I’ll give you all I’ve got to propel you forward. Most importantly, there is no better time than now to purse your dream."
