1 Dead, 2 Hospitalized After Fiery Truck Crash In Wethersfield
The crash, which involved two tractor-trailers, closed a portion of the Berlin Turnpike in Wethersfield for several hours on Monday.

WETHERSFIELD, CT — One person was killed and two others were injured in a fiery tractor-trailer crash that shut down the Berlin Turnpike in Wethersfield for several hours on Monday, according to multiple reports.
Wethersfield police confirmed late Monday night that one person was pronounced dead at the scene and two others were taken to Hartford Hospital for treatment, NBC Connecticut reports.
The crash occurred around 9:30 a.m. on the Berlin Turnpike near Pawtuckett Avenue, according to fire officials. A second fire was reported in the area of Olsen Road.

The Wethersfield Volunteer Fire Department reported that wires were down and nearby businesses were evacuated. Power was shut down to the area of the turnpike and Pawtuckett and Eversource was called to the scene, according to fire officials.
FOX 61 reports two trucks collided, one was towing a boat that was hit by a flatbed carrying a backhoe as it was turning into the Cumberland Farms. The crash ignited tanks of diesel fuel on the boat and the fuel leaked into the storm drains, which ignited a line of fire across the highway, according to FOX 61.

A witness, Samuel Martinez, told FOX 61 one of the drivers was ejected onto the road and he pulled them to safety before the explosion.
