Free Women’s 5K Group Training Programs in Wethersfield
Coach-led run/walk and run training leading to Red Dress Run for Women 5K, supported by Hartford Marathon Foundation

The non-profit Hartford Marathon Foundation, which produces 30+ race events throughout southern New England, has coordinated local running coaches to provide free group training programs in communities across Connecticut. The coach-led trainings are open to beginners or current walkers/runners looking for a supportive and encouraging group program to train with. The women’s-only training groups will culminate at the annual Red Dress Run for Women 5K walk/run on Saturday, July 13, in West Hartford.
The free 6-week training program will start the week of June 1 and welcomes runners, walkers and beginners who aim to get to the finish line at the annual Red Dress Run for Women, a beloved women’s 3.1-mile race that starts and ends in the Elizabeth Park Rose Garden. This race brings together women of all ages and abilities to achieve their personal fitness goals in a friendly, welcoming environment.
The goal of the training program mirrors the inspiring spirit of the race. The Hartford Marathon Foundation supports beginners to come out and take on a new challenge in a non-intimidating environment, while also encouraging more experienced runners to bring a friend and cheer her along as they train together. This is a great opportunity for like-minded women to come together and work toward a common goal in health and fitness.
