Wethersfield Man Dies In Drowning Incident
A local man has died in a drowning incident at Hammonasset Beach State Park.

WETHERSFIELD, CT — A local man was pronounced dead after he drowned at Hammonasset Beach State Park last week, according to The New Haven Register. The victim was identified as John Czepiel, 71, of Belmont St.
State authorities responded to the park on July 3 around 1 p.m. after a report of a struggling swimmer who had sunk beneath the water and not resurfaced. Emergency crews, lifeguards, and others attempted to revive Czepiel but were not successful, The Register reported.
Investigation into the incident is ongoing.
