Wethersfield PD Release Video Of Incident With Kidnapping Suspect

Police said they released body cam video of the incident to provide context after a video of bystanders yelling at them went viral.

WETHERSFIELD, CT — In an effort to provide context to the recent arrest of a kidnapping suspect after a video went viral, Wethersfield police have released body cam video of the incident, according to FOX 61.

FOX 61 reports Wethersfield police investigated three separate incidents, including a report of an irate man entering a fast food restaurant looking for an employee, and determined they involved the same people.

While responding to a domestic violence incident, police followed the suspect’s vehicle onto Franklin Avenue in Hartford. Bystanders were shown in a video confronting officers and yelling at them for having their guns drawn and saying they shouldn’t have entered Hartford, according to FOX 61.

Pedro Contreras, of New Britain, was arrested on several charges, including kidnapping, and was arrested again when he went to the victim’s residence after being released on a $25,000 bond, FOX 61 reports.
