Wethersfield Police Chief Retires, Set To Receive 6-Figure Payout
Wethersfield Police Chief James Cetran announced his retirement last month.

WETHERSFIELD, CT — Wethersfield Police Chief James Cetran announced his retirement last month in a letter to the town council and is anticipated to receive more $220,000, according to The Hartford Courant. The expected payout is tied to unused sick, vacation, and earned time.
Cetran, who has served the department for 47 years, has come under criticism including after an officer fatally shot an 18-year-old man during a traffic stop in 2019. More recently he was placed on paid leave after he was accused of interfering with an investigation by the town into two officers, WNPR reports. He has since returned to work and will remain on the job until Aug. 31, WNPR reports.
