Wethersfield Police Fatal Shooting Video Released
The State's Attorney office released dash camera and nearby video that shows an officer-involved shooting.

WETHERSFIELD, CT — The Hartford State's Attorney office has released three videos from the April 20 officer-involved shooting in Wethersfield that left a teen dead. Two of the videos are from police dash cameras and one is from a nearby business. Wethersfield Police aren't equipped with body cameras.
The State Attorney District of Hartford office along with State Police continue to investigate the case.
"This State’s Attorney, the Wethersfield Police Department and the Wethersfield Town officials have pledged a transparent and thorough investigation," said State's Attorney Gail Hardy.

"Accordingly, today we are releasing to the news media audio/video recordings from this incident that have been obtained as evidence by the Central District Major Crime Squad under consent from a nearby business and the Wethersfield Police Department."
Police pulled over Anthony Vega Cruz on Silas Deane Highway around 6 p.m. He initially stopped, but then attempted to flee the scene, State Police said.

Officer Layau Eulizier Jr. fired his weapon after the vehicle drove toward him, according to State Police. Eulizier is on leave while the investigation continues.
State Sen. Matt Lesser who represents Wethersfield thanked the State's Attorney office for releasing the video. He and State Sen. John Fonfara had called for the prompt release of the video.
"Thank you State’s Attorney Gail Hardy for hearing our call,” Lesser said. “While release of the footage will be painful for our community, it is necessary to demonstrate transparency, answer community questions and start the healing process.”
