Wethersfield Police Shooting: Teen In Critical Condition
Police have identified the teen who was shot by police in Wethersfield over the weekend.
WETHERSFIELD, CT — State Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred during a pursuit in Wethersfield Saturday evening.
Two Wethersfield officers attempted to stop a suspect in a motor vehicle around 6 p.m. on Silas Deane Highway, State Police said in a statement. The suspect vehicle and Wethersfield police cruiser collided. One of the officers exited his vehicle and the vehicle drove toward the officer, State Police said. The officer then fired his weapon and injured Anthony Jose Vega Cruz, 18, of Wethersfield.
Cruz was in critical condition as of Sunday afternoon.

The roadway was closed for several hours while police investigated.
The suspect was taken to the hospital. The female passenger wasn't injured and was released.

State Police are also investigating another officer-involved shooting that occurred Tuesday in New Haven. It involved Hamden and Yale Police officers. More details are expected this week for that incident.
