WETHERSFIELD, CT — Wethersfield has announced that schools will be closed in the coming weeks in response to the coronavirus.

The district issued the following statement:

Good Evening this is Superintendent of Schools Michael Emmett with a very important message. After consultation with the Central Connecticut Health District and in light of the current public health situation The Wethersfield Public Schools will close beginning Monday March 16th through Friday March 27th.

Please note that tomorrow will be a regular instructional day. During this closure we are developing a breakfast and lunch program for those families in need. Additional information
regarding this program will be forthcoming tomorrow.

Students in grades 3-6 will be provided a Chromebook tomorrow to bring home to
access the district’s online resources. Additional information regarding this process
will be provided in a separate communication.

Afterschool and evening programs in district buildings will cease as of tomorrow at 6:00pm. As this unprecedented situation continues to unfold, I will continue to provide information to keep you informed and aware.
