Wethersfield, CT - Wethersfield Historical Society is delighted to announce the dates for its 10th annual Old Wethersfield Lantern Light Tours. This year’s tours will take place on Friday, October 18th and Saturday, October 19th. Lantern Light Tours have become a beloved tradition, not only for Wethersfield and Connecticut residents, but for visitors from out-of-state as well. The Society guides visitors through the town’s Ancient Burying Ground and other sites in a theatrical exploration of Wethersfield history, as told by several of its deceased residents. Tour characters from years past have included ship captains, famed clergymen, prisoners, (and even a murder victim or two) with changing themes and meticulously researched historical figures on display each year. In honor of the 10th Anniversary, all the historical figures on this year’s program have been drawn from Lantern Light Tours past, although this particular collection of characters (and the actors portraying them) have never appeared together before. They have been chosen by Wethersfield Historical Society based on their anecdotal popularity with audiences over the past decade. The evening begins and ends at the Keeney Memorial Cultural Center, 200 Main Street, Wethersfield, CT 06109 with hot cider and cookies. In the event of inclement weather, the rain date will be October 20.

Timed tickets are on sale now and are available online through a link at the Society’s web-site, www.wethersfieldhistory.org or at the front desk of the Old Academy, 150 Main Street, Tuesday through Friday, 10am to 4pm. Tickets are $20. Tours are not recommended for children under 13. Advanced tickets are recommended as tours sell out quickly. Tours are an hour long and begin at 6:30pm, leaving every 15 minutes thereafter until 8pm.

This program is made possible in part by the generous support of the Robert Allan Keeney Memorial Fund at the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving and volunteers of Wethersfield Historical Society. For more information about the Lantern Light Tours, please contact the Society at 860.529.7656 or society@wethersfieldhistory.org.

Wethersfield Historical Society (WHS) is a 501(c)3 non-profit, membership-supported organization. Founded in 1932, its mission is to “preserve and promote Wethersfield’s history and culture to inspire people today and tomorrow.”
