July 30, 2019 a new law was signed, expanding membership in The American Legion. If you are a veteran who served at least one day on active duty since December 7, 1941, you are now eligible for membership.
Because the American Legion is chartered by Congress, the law changing membership had to come through Congress. We have succeeded in making all veterans eligible for membership.
